CHIP

Communities and Housing Investment in People (CHIP) is CHIC’s new aligned Charity. CHIP was formally launched in September.

As CHIP progresses through its first year in operation, we look forward to some exciting ventures and social value developments.

CHIP has successfully renewed CHIC’s former contracts with two Local Employment Groups, with the plan to secure two more by the end of this year. CHIP funds these groups to provide training and level two qualifications to those disadvantaged from the workplace, where the end goal is to ensure learners progress into sustainable, long-term employment. CHIP’s financial support provides positive, lasting outcomes for the lives of individuals that are helped into work. Once we have secured four groups, this will allow the number of individuals we support to grow beyond last year’s level. Look out for a detailed insight into one of these partners next month.

In addition, CHIP’s brand-new website is in the process of being created, which will enable us to advertise and share the work that CHIP is doing in local communities. This should be up and running by the end of this year and will enable users to not only learn more about CHIP’s work but will also open applications to the new Community Chest. This fund will allow local community groups to apply for small grants of up to £5,000 to support their individual projects.

The launch of the website will also enable nominations to be made for the CHIP awards. Winners will be announced at Telford International Centre on 24th May 2023, after the CHIC Conference & Exhibition. CHIP will host a fundraising dinner and will present awards, where there will be four categories:

• Apprentice of the Year
• High Achiever of the Year - Above & Beyond
• Social Value Employer of the Year
• Mentor of the Year

Look out for the opening of nominations, towards the end of this year, and be sure to nominate to ensure we can make CHIP’s first event a great success!
