UK Retrofit Compliance DPS

CHIC is pleased to announce that it’s UK Retrofit Compliance Dynamic Purchasing System (DPS) has been officially published to the market.

This development marks an important step forward in promoting compliance and quality in retrofit projects within the UK.

This new DPS will enable CHIC members to ensure that every retrofit project undergoes thorough monitoring and evaluation and that the desired outcomes have been achieved. This process helps identify and learn from any specific or systemic issues related to the retrofit risk assessment, dwelling assessment, retrofit design, installation of Energy Efficiency Measures (EEMs’) and testing, commissioning or handover of EEMs’.

Under this DPS, service providers are responsible for conducting, monitoring and evaluation of activities for each retrofit project. Newbuild Framework

CHIC is pleased to announce the launch of the procurement process for the new CHIC Newbuild Framework. The PQQ submission deadline is 30th May 2023 at 3pm.

CHIC intends to procure an 8 year Newbuild Development Framework for construction works and consultancy services. The framework will cater for a wide range of project types, from small infill and garage sites to large estate regeneration projects including newbuild, refurbishment/retrofit and cross subsidy housing for sale.
 
As CHIC works across the UK, development will include a diverse range from traditional 1/2/3 storey buildings to medium and high rise. Although generally housing focused, being Housing Associations and Local Authority landlords, CHIC’s members are more diverse (education, health, commercial sectors), so the Framework is being procured for a wider range of needs than just housing.
 
The framework will provide a variety of different solutions needed for any newbuild project, providing options to select the most appropriate ‘route to market’ for specific projects whilst supporting and promoting Modern Methods of Construction (MMC) and comprise the following lots:
 
Lot 1 – Consultancy Services for newbuild and regeneration projects
Workstream 1- project manager/contract administrator/employers agent/ quantity surveyor
Workstream 2 – Architectural Services
Workstream 3 – Engineering Services (Structural and Civil)
Workstream 4 – Principal Designer
 
Lot 2 – Development Contracting Services
Workstream 1 – Newbuild Main Contractors
Workstream 2 – MMC Manufacturers – Fully Modular
Workstream 3 – MMC Manufacturers – Frame& Panel
Workstream 4 – MMC Turnkey Contractors
 
Lot 3 – Regeneration Contractors
Provision of services of contractors which can combine any range of the following works and services:

CHIC has adopted the recommendations of ‘Constructing the Gold Standard’ in its approach to this procurement and it is CHIC’s first framework to adopt the FAC-1 form of collaborative framework agreement, with a variety of options for call off contracts.

Twinnedit – Helping Housing Providers to Sleep Easy

Deeo, a UK-based company with huge amounts of experience in the built environment, has spent the last six years developing and launching the multi-award-winning Twinnedit to the market with widespread acclaim.
 
But What is Twinnedit?
Twinnedit is a turn-key solution enabling your organisation to create "as built" building information and then be able to access a myriad of data related to your building portfolio, anywhere and on any device.

Why was Twinnedit created?
It was initially created to answer the "Golden Thread" principles & the recommendations of "Building a Safer Future" (May 2018) by Dame Judith Hackitt, in which the key message was "arm the end user with information," and has evolved to aid owners of "in-scope" buildings to evidence their safety cases.
 
Twinnedit was originally developed in partnership with a forward-thinking housing association in the West Midlands called Walsall Housing Group. whg own and manage around 35,000 properties across the Midlands, providing affordable, good quality homes & community-based services to the region.
 
Within Twinnedit, there are now over 450 HRRBs, with a growing client base of other housing associations and local authorities across the country, including London Boroughs and some of the biggest HA’s in England.
 
It has been reviewed by such eminent bodies as the JRG (DLUHC, HSR, NFCC, LABC, LBC & the ISSG) headed up by Dame Judith & all complimented us on a job well done! These enviable relationships continue to this day, enabling Twinnedit to help bring everything the regulator will be looking for into a turn-key solution to the sector.
 
How does Twinnedit work?
We Capture, Create, Collate, Host & Maintain the data for your buildings as follows:
 
Capture
We use the latest drone & laser scanning technology to digitally scan the building internally and externally to gain accurate data of its condition today. Whilst doing this we also capture building condition survey videos, aerial videos, VR experiences, & much more.
 
Create
Our team then takes the scan data & creates accurate “as is today” BIM (Building Information Models), 2D exterior elevations, floor plans, animations, & safety instructions.
 
Collate
Working with the building’s owner/operator, we assist them in collating all the information relevant to their building and bring it all together with the digital assets we have created.
 
Host
We then host all this information on our secure web-based platform, called Twinnedit!
 
From here, not only can the building’s owner/operator access & share the digital twin internally within their organisation, but they can also give access to other key stakeholders, such as residents, the fire service, and regulators, to assure them their buildings are safe.
 
Maintain
All data is stored & hosted from a highly secure datacentre in London. As the building evolves, the data stored within Twinnedit will too. We empower the building’s owner/operator with access for select responsible people to update the buildings dataset throughout its life. We are also there to support this too.
 
The Golden Thread
We bring all of the digital information about your buildings into one "Single Source of Truth" to enable you and your team to manage and maintain the buildings safety.
We have a "My Home" portal available for the residents, so select information can be shared with them so they understand and educate themselves on the mutual responsibilities of keeping their home and building safe. We even have a SEEiT interactive touchscreen kiosk that can be placed in the communal areas of buildings to allow non-connected residents to access key and relevant information within Twinnedit and provide valuable feedback, ensuring digital inclusion for all residents, regardless of demographics, and maximising resident engagement.
 
Multiple fire services now have access to Twinnedit & have the ability to instantly see data about key buildings in their region at the touch of a button. We have continued to bake into Twinnedit any suggestions they have that would assist them in incident & training scenarios.
 
Twinnedit “Utopia” Ambassador Group.
As well as working with the Fire Service, we have a prestigious user / ambassador group called Utopia, which is formed from users of Twinnedit. This ambassador group allows regular discussions about changes in legislation, user experiences and future needs for the Twinnedit solution. Ideas and suggestions are reinvested into further releases of Twinnedit, underpinning our commitment to the future of building and resident safety and wellness.
 
Has Twinnedit been put to the test in a real life situation?
Yes, on the 16th of April 2022, a blaze broke out on the 15th floor of a high-rise block of flats in Coventry. This was one of the first times Twinnedit was put to the test, playing a key role in the operation, read here to find out how.
 
Moving forward
Twinnedit continues to evolve, with the next step being incorporating IoT connectivity and much more. We are already working with multiple carefully selected and trusted partners to provide such connectivity.
